Windows 7
We have had a few folks ask about Windows 7 and 4D Software. Viking already has information on Windows 7 posted on the frequently asked questions of the Husqvarna Viking Website. The short answer is yes, the 4D Suite of embroidery software will work on computers with Windows 7. You will need to download a dongle update prior to installing 4D Embroidery on your new computer. The link to the dongle update can be found online. Go to Husqvarna Viking's 4D Software Help & Updates page, click 4D Embroidery System FAQ and enter "Windows 7" on the question line.
Updates for Designer SE (January, 2008) - versions 12382 and 12124
These updates addresses your questions on the Sensor Q Foot for free motion and embroidery and provide you with greater functionality with Jump Stitch Trim commands, Go To Embroidery Stitch Number, Embroidery Time Left, Thread Color Name and additional stitches. Computer Connection to Designer SE (October 7, 2007):
We're excited about the great new features in the Designer SE Limited Edition. In order to take advantage of these new features with regards to trimming jump stitches in embroidery mode, you'll need to upgrade your 4D software to version 8.1. Once you complete that software upgrade, you may find that your computer and your SE no longer communicate.
Don't panic. You simply need to reload your SE drivers. With your SE UNPLUGGED, reinsert into your CD drive the install disk that came with your 4D software. Now connect your SE to your computer. The computer should detect that the SE is plugged in and go find the drivers on the 4D install disk.

Vista and 3D dongle driver issues (February 20, 2007):
If you have upgraded your computer to Microsoft Vista operating system and are experiencing problems with your 3D software, you should first upgrade your dongle driver:
- Go to the Web site for the dongle manufacturer (Aladdin)
- Download the HASP HL Device Driver GUI Installation file (first one in the table) and save it to your computer. Please note the Save-in location. We recommend you save this file on the desktop.
- Extract the saved file (HASP_driver_setup.zip) by double clicking on it. Note the location you are extracting to.
- Make sure your dongle is NOT attached to your computer and run the extracted file (HASPdriversetup.exe)
- Reboot your computer.
- Plug your dongle in and open the 3D Embroidery software.

Updates for Designer I and SE
Attention all Designer I owners! The latest (2.1) update is now available! Click to go directly to the download! Designer SE owners should check your My Info section of the i icon to see if you are using version 9875. If you cannot go online to complete your update, remind us the next time your machine is in for service and we'll be happy to do it for you.
Getting errors in 3D software (6/18/06)
The latest update for the new hoops can be challenging to install.
If you are getting the following error when attempting to unzip the exe thread database update file:
Cannot create output file: c:\3dembroidery\HoopH.ini
Try this solution to manually extract and copy the HoopH.ini file into the
3dembroidery folder:
- When you get to the WinZip window, instead of selecting Unzip, please
select Open WinZip (Winzip will need to be installed on your computer.)
- Highlight the HoopH.ini file listed and click the Extract button.
Please note the folder where you are extracting the file.
- Navigate to the file you extracted and right-click it.
- Select Copy from the menu.
- Open My Computer.
- Open the C:\ drive.
- Open the 3dembroidery folder.
- Click Edit from the top menu bar.
- Select Paste from the menu. You will be asked if you want to replace
a file. You do want to replace it.

Designer SE Update (available April 10, 2006)
An update for your Designer SE is available on the Husqvarna Viking site on Monday, April 10, 2006. If you have any issues performing this upgrade, please call one of our stores for assistance.
Update 3D Embroidery Software to 7.2.5 (Dec. 9, 2005)
An update to the 3D Embroidery software is available from Husqvarna-Viking. You can watch an online demonstration to see the new features in action. Feature changes include (but are not limited to):
- 3 additional thread tables
- Enhanced hoop imaging and stitching area for the larger hoops
- Adjustments to .pes file formats
- New option for Sending-to the Designer SE Embroidery Stick
- Double stitch fabric placement appliqué in 3D Fabric Designer

New Designer SE Update Version 8918 (Nov. 7, 2005)
Exciting news! A new update for your Designer SE! The new update was released on SMART update on Monday, November 7, 2005.
Version 8918 now includes:
- New languages Russian and Japanese
- Two new alphabets for the Russian and Japanese markets: Cyrillic and Hiragana
PLUS updates that have been requested by Designer SE owners including:
- Instant response when touching reverse
- Faster response for long stitch programs
- Updated thread manufacturer information and embroidery color display
- Updated in SET menu for Sensor Q Foot when embroidering
- And additional setting updates

Thread Manager Issue in 3D Software
If nothing happens when you go to 3D Configure and click on Thread Manager, you might have a corrupted Thread database. Please try the following steps in order to resolve your Thread Manager
issue:
- Please save this file "msaccessdbfixer.zip" to your desktop.
- Double click on "msaccessdbfixer.zip". This will open your default zip
utility.
If WinZip is your default zip program WinZip will open to reveal the file msaccessdbfixer.exe. Follow these steps:
- Select the button on the menu bar labeled "extract". This will open the
extract program. In the Folders/ drives option, select your C:\ Drive.
- Click extract button.
- Click on the Start menu.
- Click Run.... This will open the Run program.
- Type "cmd" in the text box (without the quotes) and press Enter/Return on the keyboard. This will open the MS-DOS prompt.
- In the MS-DOS window type "cd\" (without the quotes) and press Enter/Return.
- Type "c:\msaccessdbfixer.exe > C:\msaccess.log" (without the quotes) and press Enter/Return.
You should now be able to access your Thread Databases.
If Windows is your default zip utility Windows will open a folder. Follow these steps:
- Copy the file named "msaccessdbfixer" and paste it directly in your C:\
drive.
- Click on the Start menu.
- Click the Run ... . This will open the Run program.
- Type "cmd" in the text box (without the quotes) and press Enter/Return on the keyboard. This will open the MS-DOS prompt.
- In the MS-DOS window type "cd\" (without the quotes) and press Enter/Return.
- Type "c:\msaccessdbfixer.exe > C:\msaccess.log" (without the quotes) and press Enter/Return.
You should now be able to access your Thread Databases.
Endless and Encore - New 3D version 7.2 (May 9, 2005)
Create your own endless embroideries! Place your favorite embroideries as many times as possible automatically in your chosen hoop. Choose from four types of alignment stitches for easy re-hooping and a perfect result! Automatically repeat and reflect your design along a line or a circle with the Encore feature – you can work wonders. We encourage you to perform the Smart Update on you software or visit the Husqvarna-Viking Web site for more information.

Important - Dongle driver problem with 3D Embroidery Software (January 14, 2005)
Microsoft has issued a Recommended Update for the HASP Dongle Driver on Windows.
This was an earlier version of the dongle driver that Microsoft incorrectly provided without our knowledge.
A number of people with 3D Embroidery software may have selected and installed this update. Their computers may experience error messages and crashes.
If you are experiencing difficulties due to downloading and installing the Microsoft recommended update, please perform the following steps:
- Go to http://www.aladdin.com/support/hasp/hasp4/enduser.asp
- Download the HASP HL Device Driver GUI Installation file (first one in the table) and save it to your computer. Please note the Save-in location. We recommend you save this file on the desktop.
- Extract the saved file (HASP_User_Setup.zip) by double clicking on it. Note the location you are extracting to.
- Make sure your dongle is NOT attached to your computer and run the extracted file (HASPUserSetup.exe)
- Reboot your computer.
- Plug your dongle in and open the 3D Embroidery software.
We have been informed that Microsoft is in contact with Aladdin and is
working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.
Tips for Downloading Software Updates
Husqvarna-Viking is constantly working to make their software easy to use and functionally rich. As downloads are available, demand on the Husqvarna–Viking servers could cause you to experience quite long download times and problems with downloading in general. We recommend the following:
- First, if you experience very slow download times, please try during a lower activity time such as early in the morning (between 6 and 8am).
- To aid downloading large files from the Husqvarna-Viking Web site you may prefer to use a download manager; for example the shareware program GetRight (available from www.getright.com ). It will allow the download to continue even if an error occurs or the connection is broken.
- For those customers not on DSL connections H-V has split the download into 5MB sections.
To unzip these downloads you will require WinZip 9 (available from www.winzip.com ). Follow the multiple file download instructions:
- Download all the files to a temporary location on your PC.
- With WinZip 9 or higher installed double-click the file with the .zip extension.
- WinZip will now create the single file from the separate parts.
- Double-click on the newly created file.
The install program will now open.
